Keeping the community safe

Good news, everybody. After a long and exciting road of planning, restoration, and some good old-fashioned hard work, the Old Red Lion has once again opened its doors. Hooray! 

We all love pubs – they offer a personal experience where you can enjoy your favourite tipple, taste great food, socialise, or just relax in a quiet corner. To us, there’s nothing better. Therefore, we take great pleasure in being open for the whole community to visit and experience our newly refurbished pub.

However, before telling you all about our locally-sourced ingredients, selected drinks menu, and the rich, history legacy of the property dating back to 1577. We’d like to take this opportunity to reassure everyone that the Old Red Lion isn’t just a relaxing place to meet and come together. It’s also a safe haven.

These are difficult times, and so we’ve gone above and beyond, planning from the ground up in order to ensure the absolute highest standards of health and safety for our customers through a robust risk assessment process. See our new measures below and feel rest assured.

One-way system

Our signage-assisted one-way system in and out of the pub will ensure consistent social distancing throughout the premises. We also have a duty to monitor capacity.

Test and Trace

We’re obliged by the guidelines to capture contact details for all guests visiting the pub. These details will be kept for 21 days – our team will capture these on a tablet upon arrival.

Always seated service

The always-seated system means table service on both food and drink at all times.  Reservations are preferred to guarantee a table, contact us either via the website or phone and talk to one of the team.

Precision table plan

The Old Red Lion’s new table plan is in line with the 1m social distancing guidelines, so you can relax and enjoy your evening. Seated at your table, you’ll be a clear metre apart from the closest seated guest.

Toilets 

With only one person at a time allowed in the toilets, consistent social distancing can be maintained and adhered to at all times 

Hand sanitiser

Hand sanitising will be positioned as you enter through the front door of the pub.
